About Canada

Canada is a country, consisting of ten provinces and three territories, in the northern part of the continent of North America. Canada's common border with the United States forms the world's longest land border.

It extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles) in total, making it the world's second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area.

A multitude of languages are used by Canadians, with English and French (the official languages) being the mother tongues of approximately 60% and 20% of Canadians respectively. The level of literacy in Canada is very high, almost 96%. Special emphasis has been laid on education by the government of Canada.

Canada is one of the world's top immigration destinations with over 200,000 new arrivals coming under the Canada immigration system every year.

You may obtain study permit forms in your country of origin at the Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Canadian Education Centre. Applications and documentation must then be submitted to the nearest visa office.

Work After Studies
